Welcome to Morning Pages, a newsletter sharing inspirations to help you cultivate creativity and fulfillment.
Hello friends!
Nice seeing you here. It’s been only two weeks since I sent the last newsletter. Yet it felt like a long time ago.
Last weekend was an emotional rollercoaster. I saw something was being said online by someone I respect. There was zero evidence that I was the person being blamed for, I felt targeted and misunderstood. After writing a message to lay everything on the table, I later learned that blaming was not about me.
I’m feeling a sense of relief. Yet at the same time, I couldn’t stop wondering why I bother with it in the first place? I’m a highly sensitive person and a recovering people pleaser. Sometimes I make up stories to explain why someone behaves a certain way towards me. I was caught up in the story that I was telling myself.
Why do we do this to ourselves? Because our brains crave connections the way our bodies crave sugar. We constantly invent these inner stories to explain our social world.
How many times a day do you think about how other people perceive you? Our ideas of how others see us can influence our self-perception. We begin to think that we can read other peoples’ minds. We invent theories about why someone treated us kindly, poorly, or indifferently. These theories shape our personal narrative which dictates the decisions we make. We become the stories we tell ourselves.
What if the stories we’re telling ourselves are incomplete conclusions? In my case, I felt the pressure to reach out and make peace because I didn’t want to create an enemy. I wanted acceptance from this person and therefore, I put my energy into “fixing” the situation. The truth is that there was nothing that needed fixing.
What I’ve learned through this experience is that we will always have an inner story that we are continually creating and editing. Yet we almost never have the full information. Be kind to ourselves and hold off our judgment.
Be mindful of the stories you are telling yourself. Put your mind into what brings you higher energy. Choose courage over worry.
Don't allow that inner critic's voice to stop you from becoming the person you are meant to be.

Blooming
No matter what they say,
know that all good things take time to bloom
and all sadness is not a waste of life.
so here's to you
for being true,
for being beautiful.
the sun is the brightest thing
in the sky
and so are you.
